what have i been doing lately... since my last blog post was eons ago...???? i'm now in alaska!! yay!! i get so excited about coming home every year and this year i'm up here for three weeks. i wish it could be longer. right after me and remi got up here my mom's parents flew in with 200lbs of green chili for us to can. mmmm!!!! delicious!!! :) the process is basically roasting the chilis, peeling the chilis, washing them and then canning them. i took pics of the whole process and maybe i'll get around to posting those, just on the off chance that anyone else wants to do it - it's not very hard.
here's my grandpa playing with fire. i'll bet that's the main reason the guys get into the chili processing. pyros!
it's also a very social process. you get to sit around and talk, laugh, tell stories... i look forward to doing this everytime i happen to be up here when papa and granna come to town. and they might come to spokane next fall and we can do it there! yay! we'll trade cherries and peaches for chilis. below is jennifer (with joyce) and carolyn:
