the beach, alaska style...

monday was a beautiful day - blue sky, temps in the 60's or so, no wind. what could be more perfect? i went on a little walk with my sister and two of her kids to the north fork of eagle river. when i was here last year the mosquitos were horrendous and chased us out of there in no time. this time? none. i think i may have seen one or two but that's it. perfect!
here's a pic of all three kiddos playing in the water. remi was content throwing rocks in the water the whole time but the other two were having a ball wading in the river. we found this perfect little pool of water off the main river and it was perfect to play in. well, "perfect" if you don't stop to think that this is glacial water, glacial = big chunks of ice = frigid.
here's catheryn in action:
canyon loves the taste of dirt and kept tasting and tasting it. so funny! i love the smell of moist dirt and i'm sure when i was younger i loved the taste of it. she's very conscientious of her diet - making sure she gets plenty of minerals. ha!
and here's carolyn with canyon and catheryn:
my mom just walked by and asked "are these your pictures or carolyn's?" i know that i post a lot of pictures of everyone else but i absolutely love taking pictures and i'm almost always the one behind the camera. carolyn took the one of me and remi (thanks, carolyn!). i have lots of pictures of me while holding the camera out in front of me and i used to do a lot of timer pictures, but it's nice to be photographed when i don't have to operate the camera. my engagement pictures were on timer as well. yeah, that's talent for you!

sure miss those rocky beaches, and those cuddly leaches :) Mostly I just miss AK and the fun people, like you and your crazy family, up there.
