i want to hike all the hikes that are around spokane and to start, me and a friend, melissa, went on a little kid-friendly day hike with our kids - the bowl and pitcher. this is a beautiful place along the spokane river in riverside state park. this bridge is a replica of the original built by the civilian conservation corps.

and the scenery along the river...

me and remi. i "made" a copy of a moby wrap and remi has loved it since he was born. he is completely content in it and will fall asleep without his typical pre-sleep fussiness. it's comfortable and only costs about 10 bucks (as opposed to $40 if you get the "real" thing). get a few yards of cotton knit fabric, cut it so it's about 25" wide and there you have it! i didn't get enough yardage so i added some length by sewing fabric ties on the end.
here are directions for making your own and
here for how to use it. easy!

melissa and her two girls - noelle and elizabeth.

while we were trying to distract the girls so that they'd keep walking melissa found some lady bugs that interested the girls so much that they didn't want to leave. it reminded me of my grandparents family cabin in southeastern arizona. up on top is a place called ladybug saddle and it's covered with lady bugs! ahhh, memories...

Remi is such a handsome little guy! I love his face.
did some canning myself, my apples made applebutter, applesauce and a good apple pie. Plums too. I even canned some chicken, so good.
How you doing? sure love the AK pics, we are thinking about coming to visit sometime, maybe next summer.
